Too Busy to Exercise? Or Just Too Busy for Yourself?
Time will never magically find you.
And truthfully, you will probably never “find” time either.
Or was it “The best time to start was 10 years ago, but the second-best time is today”?

Somewhere between responsibilities and procrastination, days turn into months before we realise we never actually started.
Not all of us sound this dramatic in our heads, of course.
Your thoughts probably sound a little like this…
“I should spend more time with my family.”
“I shouldn’t take my job for granted, I should work harder.”
“I like helping others before helping myself.”
But wait! These are not bad thoughts to have.
It is natural to want to be present for the people you love, build a successful career, and put others first. But when this becomes a constant pattern, where everyone and everything comes before yourself, the effects slowly start to show.
You begin to feel drained. Stress becomes normal.
You tell yourself - rest later, exercise later, take care of yourself later.
Until one day, you realise your body feels different, your energy feels lower, you have an unexplainable ache in your back, and you are left wondering - what changed?
“But I really am busy.”
We believe you!

Work deadlines, family commitments, errands, relationships, and simply trying to keep it together (mentally, emotionally, and spiritually) can make adding exercise feel overwhelming.
“Just make time,”
That feels frustratingly dismissive.
But the truth is: being busy and prioritising yourself are not mutually exclusive.
Both can exist at the same time.

Imagine if your boss suddenly told you:
“Hey, no pressure. Come into work whenever you feel like it. No fixed hours. Just show up if and when you have time.”
How many of us would consistently show up?
Probably not many.
Work happens because we schedule it. Family commitments happen because we schedule them. Meetings happen because we put them in calendars.
But when it comes to ourselves, we often say:
“I’ll exercise when I have time.”
The problem is, time rarely appears out of nowhere.
Taking care of yourself needs to be as important as work, family & other responsibilities. Because if you are constantly showing up for everyone else, who is making sure you are taken care of too?

You will eventually realise you cannot pour from an empty cup.
And it is important to understand why you exercise in the first place.
Sure, for some people, it is weight loss, aesthetics, or training for competitions. But for many working adults, movement becomes the thing that helps them simply feel better, mentally and physically.
Exercise can help manage stress, improve sleep, boost energy, and give you a sense of accomplishment on days when everything else feels chaotic.
And no, this does not mean spending three hours in the gym!
A short walk counts.
Thirty minutes of movement counts.
A quick gym session after work counts.
Small efforts repeated over time are what build sustainable habits, momentum, and eventually, long-term results. Consistency over intensity, always. The belief that exercise only counts if it is intense or time-consuming is often the very thing stopping people from taking the first step.
Let's be real honest with ourselves; life will probably never get less busy and there will never be a perfect time to start. So maybe the real question is:
Do you really have no time? Or are you just not prioritising yourself?
Still unsure of what we're about?
